A weekend trip to Asheville, NC with this family proved to be one of my highlights this fall. With an entire day to wander and explore the grounds of Biltmore Estate, and with countless backdrops and places to shoot, the day seemed to come to a close all too quickly. Nothing like combining the history of this beautiful location, this fun and sharp looking family, and the lingering autumn colors to make this portrait session everything a photographer could ask for. My only regret was that we did not have more hours of sunlight to work with and more time to spend in the company of this incredible family. So many memories in one place and hopefully these capture even just a glimpse of our wonderful time spent all-together…
Engagement Portraits, Aaron & Monica, St. Louis, Missouri
A trip to St. Louis has been long in coming, and the timing of this past October’s trip worked perfectly following Monica and Aaron's recent engagement. I think we settled on the location of the shoot before the weekend of my visit, but it’s all about keeping things in priority right?? Our backdrop for our shoot was the beautiful Oakland House, where Monica’s grandmother had served as President of the Affton Historical Society, which was responsible for renovation and preservation of this beautiful location.
Aaron and Monica, I so enjoyed watching you both interact together, getting to know you both as a couple, and making some memories all while capturing some of your own in the making. Thank you for making me feel at home in St. Louis, and for introducing me to some of the beautiful locations your city had to offer. I can’t wait for your wedding in March!!
Ryan & Jessica, Floyds Knobs, Indiana, Portrait Photographer
When an opportunity presents itself to combine travel, catching up with dear friends, and shooting a portrait session, I am all in. Ever since my dear friend Jessica moved to Indiana to be closer to family and pursue work there, we ad talked about me making the trip to visit her and explore nearby Louisville, KY. We finalized a time that worked for us both, and I had the privileged of getting to stay with her family, experience different cultural events happening in the area, and make time for a portrait session for both her and her husband Ryan. This time together was the perfect way to end a weekend together...walking through the woods of her family’s property, chasing after filtered sunlight, and shooting in the near-dry river bed as the sun set in the distance. Thank you both for allowing me to capture you, your love, and the treasure you hold in each other.
Bridal Portraits, Avoca Museum, Altavista, VA ~ {Abigail}
I have always jumped at any opportunity to spend time with one of my siblings, but this particular time proved to be of greater importance to me then that of our usual outing. With my youngest sister’s wedding day quickly approaching, I wanted a reason to set aside time for just the two of us, and where I could create something special just for her while commemorating our day together amidst the busy blur of wedding planning. It seemed like just yesterday I was capturing her and her fiancé’s engagement pictures, but I was no less excited to capture all of these! This mid-summer day spent in Altavista, VA with Abigail will be forever one of my most treasured memories with her.
A special thanks to Rachel at Mitchell's Salon on 7th who spent hours with Abigail's hair and make-up, creating a flawless look that sustained hours in the heat and humidity. Thanks also to Terri at Airabella Flowers & Gifts for her creating something beautiful with very little notice, and to Micahel and Teresa at Avoca Museum and Historical Society for allowing us an afternoon spent on such beautiful grounds and for opening your doors to us - providing the most perfect backdrop for all that you see here.
